• Sub-Saharan Africa is often the last place most consider when engaging in discourses about written history, yet hundreds of manuscripts and inscriptions written by African scribes exist that narrate the continent's history; from Senegal in west to Ethiopia in the east, and from Sudan in the north to Angola in the south
• In this article, I have catalogued the most readily available documents of African historiography (more than 60 of them plus at least one image for each of their folios), I have also included 107 links to their online catalogues and added more than 70 publication references for further reading
• I hope this catalogue will be useful; for both history academics and enthusiasts alike, as a comprehensive introduction to Sub-Saharan African historiography
