Summary of SoftBank rewrote the VC rules. Now it’s Tiger’s turn.
- Tiger and SoftBank are the two biggest funders of startups so far in 2021, but how they do it is completely driven.
- SoftBank is people-driven, in the headlines and is known for making big, bold audacious bets.
- Tiger Global is "proudly passive". It doesn't take board seats and pays for Bain consultants instead. It's also FAST. like VCs will abandon deals if they hand in a term sheet.
- They both have an advantage though of being deep-pocketed investors who are experienced in holding public equity for the long term.
